Fluid-based cushioning materials are often used in medical applications such as wheelchair seat cushions and hospital mattresses. Fluid offers significant improvements in kneeling comfort over the flat, closed-cell foams found in most kneepads.
Fluid provides an "active" response to the point pressures involved with kneeling i.e. the fluid moves in response to movement on your knees. Importantly, fluid does not take a compression set that is so common in traditional flat foam kneepads.
The fourth generation fluid pack shown here is packed with technical innovations. This fluid pack utilizes the well known "patella donut" orthopedic principles whereby patellar pressure is dispersed to the perimeter of the knee. The patent pending, fold over design provides two levels of cushioning and two patella rings for the ultimate in comfort.
Vertical and horizontally opposed fluid chambers on the bottom and top layers respectively automatically adjust the fluid material to conform to any kneeling motion. And, two patented check valves prevent the flow from moving out of the patella ring area.
Nothing else compares to the feeling of literally floating your patella in a pillow of fluid.
